Lights Out Lunch

Keep Levelland Beautiful visited South Elementary for the Third Grade Lights Out Lunch program. Third graders learned about different light bulbs and the energy they burn. They learned how the light bulb came about 147 years ago. They discussed how to save energy by turning out the lights when you can. Every student received a flashlight from Xcel Energy to use and take home. After experiencing lunch with the lights turned off, students headed outside for a special lesson from Xcel Energy about electricity, how light bulbs work, and the importance of conserving energy. Students learned that something as simple as flipping off a light switch can make a big difference! Saving electricity helps protect our natural resources, reduces energy waste, and saves money at home! Thank you to Keep Levelland Beautiful and Xcel Energy for helping our young Lobos discover how small actions can make a big impact on our community and our planet!
