We have another High-Five Friday brag on one of our own! We have to brag on one of our own! Congratulations to South Elementary teacher Nancy Southerland, who was recently installed as the 2026–2027 Texas State President of Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional organization for educators! Mrs. Southerland represented Levelland ISD at the 2026 Kappa Kappa Iota National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she also received the VIP Award! This special recognition honors members who go above and beyond through leadership, service, professional development, membership, and involvement. Kappa Kappa Iota has been supporting educators since 1921, providing opportunities for teachers to connect, grow professionally, serve their communities, and receive scholarships and classroom support. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom—members nationwide volunteered more than 61,000 hours and contributed over $1.1 million to local charities last year! For Mrs. Southerland, Kappa is about educators supporting educators and making a difference together. Her theme as Texas State President is “Come Together with Kappas,” and we think it perfectly reflects her heart for education, service, and supporting others.
