It's Better Speech and Hearing Month and Speech Pathologist Day! We caught LISD Speech Pathologist in a great activity with her South students! Incorporating the curriculum of Plant Life Cycles and living/non-living, Miss Davis worked on skills that many of us take for granted. Her students planted spring flowers in containers they had already designed, but as they worked they spoke and articulated beginning and ending sounds for vocabulary (bloom, leaf, soil, stem, roots, sunlight) words. They followed one & two-step directions and recognized spatial concepts (in, on, under, top, middle, bottom). Her students reviewed sequencing (first, next, last) and focused on quantity terms (little, lot, more, all). Miss Davis always exposes her students to as much as possible and has her students talking the entire lesson! Miss Davis, we are so glad to have you as one of our speech pathologists!
