South Elementary students in Mrs. Mary Bara's Art class recycled old Newspapers to design and create adorable, huggable paper pillows. Students started by drawing a really large, simple shape that represents something they love. They cut it out, times two. Students then decorated their creation with chalk, paint, markers and more, adding all the details to both sides. They glued around the edges, leaving room to stuff the old newspapers inside. They finally glued up the hole, and used string for a hanger. This was a fun end-of-year activity that made students think about recycling old things into new!
