National Dyslexia Day Celebration

South Elementary students celebrated National Dyslexia Day yesterday with Dyslexic Teacher Mrs. Alexis Gavina. Mrs. Gavina read the book Cartwheels by Tracy Peterson. In the book, Sloane finds her special kind of smart. Students all wore red, painted hearts for awareness and their special brains, and ate a package of red Skittles with all colors inside--just like our brains. Most people with dyslexia have above-average IQs, but dyslexia is a learning disability that makes it difficult to read or write. Our LISD students are beyond lucky to have teachers who help them succeed on every campus! Thank you, Mrs. Gavina, for the awareness and extra help!
